Stills production,
in Cape Town.

YLO began as a production house and we still run it as one. Concept, casting, locations, crew, kit, on-set production, post and delivery, handled end-to-end for brands shooting in South Africa or routing through Cape Town from anywhere.

We Believe

Exceptional stills photography begins with expert production planning. To capture the essence of your concept in a still image: you need the perfect crew, location and timing. Precision on shoot day is crucial. From logistics to lighting, we ensure each element comes together seamlessly to deliver outstanding results. We believe in pushing the boundaries of what's possible is required to produce high-quality stills and video that will resonate with your audience.

Production Matters

From concept to brief, we handle every step of the process to ensure your vision comes to life. YLO arranges flights, hotels, crews, visas, permits and craft, along with the gear, talent and all the logistics so you don't have to. We work with Cape Town's best talent, crews, and creatives who bring incredible energy, enthusiasm and expertise to every shoot. Last-minute changes and missed details can derail a shoot. We're here to make sure they don't.

Cape Town & beyond

Locations we run

Cape Town runs long summer days and reliable weather, half the reason brands route shoots through here. We keep a working library of beaches, dunes, urban, studios, sets, wine farms and sports surfaces to match the brief.

What we deliver

A single accountable team across the whole production lifecycle, scaling specialist freelancers in wherever the brief needs them.

  • Pre-production, concept, mood, treatment, casting, location scouting, permits.
  • Crew & kit, DOPs, photographers, stylists, HMU, AD, runners; full lighting and camera kit on call.
  • On-set production, call sheets, location logistics, client liaison, problem-solving in real time.
  • Post, selects, retouching, colour, motion edits, channel-ready delivery.
  • Repeat-format programmes, always-on content engines for brands that shoot every month, not every campaign.

Why production still sits at the centre

YLO started as a stills production company and the craft never left the building. Even as the wider business expanded into strategy, tech, growth and AI, the production house kept running, because brands that take their visual identity seriously want one team accountable for the whole picture, not three vendors arguing about feed continuity.

Today the production arm slots into a much bigger creative engine. The same brand that shoots a campaign with us this quarter is the brand we’re optimising landing pages for next quarter, running CRM lifecycle on the quarter after, and attributing the lot to revenue in the dashboard. The shoot stops being a disconnected line item and starts pulling its weight inside the whole funnel.

How we run a production

Pre-production starts with the question every good production starts with: what does this brand need this image to do? From there we work backwards into treatment, casting, locations, crew shape, kit list, and call sheet. By the time we hit set, every decision has a reason, and a fallback for when the weather doesn’t cooperate.

On set we run lean and accountable. One production manager owns the day, one client lead owns the brief. Crew rotates depending on the brief, we keep a core team and scale specialist freelancers in around them, which means we can shoot anything from a single-day product run to a multi-week, multi-location campaign.

Post is where most agencies drop the ball. We don’t. Selects, retouching, colour, motion edits and channel-ready delivery are all part of the same engagement, so the asset you brief in Monday is the asset that lands in your CMS on Friday, sized for every surface it’ll ever live on.

Best fit

Brands shooting campaign, e-commerce, lookbook, editorial or always-on social work who want production handled end-to-end. Particularly strong fit if you also want the asset pipeline (storage, metadata, naming, channel resizing) running cleanly into the rest of your stack, that’s the join we built the company around.

Real over generic

Real images. Real videos.

The kind that make people stop scrolling. In a market drowning in generic content, we make visuals that earn the attention that turns into sales.
